Lead singer of the aforementioned Wolfmother, he of the beautiful fro.  Joker and the Thief is a rad song to run to but nothing beats Avenged Sevenfold’s Trashed and Scattered.

M. Shadows

Lead vocalist for Avenged Sevenfold, whose City of Evil is the rockinest thing since sliced bread.  I read an article on them once, wherein they vowed their allegiance to hard drugs, broads, and the Republican party.  Avenged is the BEST music to run to.  Even better than Wolfmother, which is saying something.

Chris Columbus

Prolific film industry jack of all trades, who we’re thinking about today because he wrote Gremlins and The Goonies.  This guy’s head gave us Mogwai AND Chunk.  God bless Chris Columbus.

Jus Rhyme

Jus Rhyme got das boot from White Rapper Show last night.  Lands-o-goshen, this white rapper was wack.  He attempted one of the worst battle freestyles I have ever seen.  Ever.  We are down to two: John Brown and Shamrock.  Viva King of the Burbs.

Bruce Chatwin

Travel writer who, according to Modo & Modo, played an instrumental role in keeping the Moleskine notebook alive and in production.  I don’t much buy the extensive self-mythologizing of the Moleskine, but dammit if they’re not the best notebooks in town.

Charlotte Gainsbourg

Daughter of Serge Gainsbourg who played Stephanie in Science of Sleep.  I watched this movie last night and found it charming and tender.  Way better than the foul one with the foul Jim foul Carrey.  Gainsbourg is stunning and vulnerable in scenes where she wears her glasses.  Not that she’s not in others…but something different happens when her glasses are on.

Lamb and Lynx Gaede

Identical twin sisters who perform as Prussian Blue, a white nationalist band.  I think they are 14?  15?  Lamb and Lynx are extremely interesting, and I wish Prussian Blue would tour to Austin.  I’d go see them.  Maybe they could get a show at SXSW.

Persia

Latest white rapper to hand MC Serch her shoes on White Rapper show.  Persia may have been the only actual MC out of the whole bunch…BUT she couldn’t remember her Ice Ice chamber rhymes!  And her Hot 97 freestyle was horrible.  Adios Persia. 

Gavroche

Young street urchin from Hugo’s Les Miserables.  He’s the heart of the novel.  At some point the narrator explains one of Gavroche’s statements by saying “Gavroche was a thinker, you see.”  It doesn’t sound like much here, but 800 pages into the novel you’re rooting for the kid and you love it when he shows back up.
